2H Kunststoff receives substantial order for percolating filter technologyBy 2H Kunststoff GmbH
Aachen, 25.09.2006 - The Aachen branch of 2H Kunststoff GmbH has won the
contract to supply percolating filters for the Managua sewage plant in Nicaragua. With a total of
ca. 30,000 m³ of Munters
BIOdek to break down 45,000 kg of BOD5 (equivalent to ca. 1 million
inhabitants), the plant ranks among the largest of its kind in the world. The customer is the
British company Biwater International Ltd. The project is being funded by German development bank
KfW and is taking advantage of the particular strengths of percolating filter technology.
These are lower energy consumption and higher operating safety under difficult
conditions.
In April 2006 the GEA Group AG acquired the water division from the Swedish Munters
Group, which they integrated into their subsidiary 2H Kunststoff GmbH.
Aachen will continue to be home to 2H Kunststoff GmbH and will be expanded.
2H Kunststoff GmbH can now offer a wide range of products in waste water and sewage
treatment for both industrial and municipal areas. For biofilm technology they offer all necessary
forms and specifications of structured filling material for percolating filter technology,
anaerobic technology or biorotors. In addition they also offer submerged media for fixed bed
reactors.
This expertise in process technology is being extended by continuing a research
project for the development of sewage and wastewater cleaning processes with biofilm technology.
This project aims for the development of technology which can be exported and is being funded by
the German Federal Minister for Education and Research.
Great value is being attached to the growing market of water purification. The
Munters TUBEdek is already being successfully used at the pre-purification stage at several large
water works (up to 600,000 m³/d).
In rainwater treatment the group has a great amount of expertise in the following
areas: collection, storage and seepage of rainwater, separation of hydrocarbons from street
drainage as well as improvements in the effectiveness of storm water treatment tanks.
This expertise in water management has been brought together in the subsidiary of 2H
Kunststoff GmbH in Aachen. You can reach them under:
